Lightweight Advanced Technologies: District Vision + Massimo Osti Studio
Developed in collaboration with District Vision, the eyewear and apparel sports authority, the Chapter explores advanced performance technologies with a focus on lightweight construction and functional design. The range includes a pair of aerospace-grade titanium sunglasses, engineered for exceptional lightness and strength, an ultralight, semi-transparent, and packable Pertex® jacket, and a ring-spun cotton graphic t-shirt.
THE PROCESS
Redefining Lightness and Functionality
Since its inception, District Vision has been researching and developing innovative sports eyewear and apparel, including the world’s first RX-integrated shield lens technology. This approach aligns with the philosophy of Massimo Osti Studio, rooted in continuous textile research and the experimentation of cutting-edge technologies.
For this Chapter, the California-based brand drew inspiration from the design processes and prototypes of the Massimo Osti Archive - such as multifunctional gilets and semi-transparent jackets with contrasting heat-sealed seams - creating ultra-lightweight, highly functional design objects.
